Hullo again! Rori here. Aubrey will be along in two shakes. He just needs a moment to get himself together. I'm afraid he's somewhat anxious around new people, and it takes a certain amount of preparation on his part. Before he comes out, I thought I might tell you a little bit about him. Aubrey is eighteen, so a year older than me, but he needs extra special attention. I'm glad he likes spending time with me because I like spending time with him as well. Sometimes I feel lonely when he's not with me, though I'm still rather uncertain as to why that may be. I might ask Henry about that.
I do know that being around Aubrey makes me feel very happy, but in a different way than being around the other fellas. I mean, I've fancied other boys before, but it's never felt anything like this, which is what makes me wonder if it may be something else I feel? No one has ever needed me before either. I'm not used to having someone depend on me. It should make me anxious, but somehow, not where Aubrey is concerned. He's very handsome, with black hair and pale grey eyes. He has a wide smile that makes his eyes light up. We hold hands sometimes, not because we fancy each other, but because we like to, and sometimes when we're feeling a little under the weather, it helps us feel better.
The other fellas never tease us, mostly because no one would ever dare hurt Aubrey's feelings. He's just such a sweet fella and it makes us all sad knowing how Jacky and Chance found him. Aubrey thinks Chance is the bee's knees as well, especially since when Aubrey first arrived and was real scared, Chance gave Aubrey his French Foreign Legion uniform and told him all sorts of stories about his time in the desert. I don't think Chance knows how much it means to Aubrey. Sometimes, when Aubrey's having a tough day, he asks me to stay with him in his room. On those days he wears Chance's uniform. I think it makes him feel less afraid.
Oh, he's here now, waving. Sort of. It's a small wave. I don't think he'll be staying long. He's brought his dime novel. Aubrey's favorites are the Nick Carter Detective magazines. It's always filled with adventure and mystery, and boy, that Nick Carter packs a wallop! Aubrey thinks Johnnie's a lot like Nick Carter. Maybe not the going off on adventures and wearing disguises part, but Johnnie's real good at brawling. He's teaching us all how to box like they do in New York City. It's proper exciting! Aubrey's tugging on my sleeve which means he'd like to go. Thank you all again for coming! Next stop is Oliver. He's... um, well, let's just say there's never a dull moment when he's around! Cheerio!
Blurb:
IAJW200Eight years after leaving the deserts of Africa and the French Foreign Legion behind, Jonathan Wolfe has settled into life at Hawthorne Manor in the English countryside. Johnnie helps his adopted family run the manor and provide a safe, loving home for a new generation of “brats”: boys mistreated and discarded for their homosexuality—something all too familiar to Johnnie.
Although no longer an unruly youngster, Johnnie is as stubborn, foul-mouthed, and troublesome as ever. His recent rash behavior becomes a concern for those closest to him, especially Dr. Henry Young, the only man ever to capture Johnnie's heart. Instead of soothing him, their closeness brings Johnnie’s insecurities from an unsettling past to the surface, and leads to an explosive situation that threatens to tear them apart. Then Henry’s past catches up to them….

We said hello to some of the grooms on the far end as we made our way to the part of the stables that had been converted into a coach house before the war. After climbing into the passenger side of Henry’s Citro├źn, I rolled down the window to lean my elbow out as he started the engine and got us moving. The day was pleasant for May, so no overcoats were needed, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, though we could very well be driving into a blizzard for all I knew. I had learned quite quickly I had a better of chance of striking oil out here than I did trying to predict the British weather. I’d never lived in a country where you could experience summer and winter in the same day.
Henry was rather quiet and I sneaked a glance at him, noticing something jutting out against his suit jacket. Lifting the hem up, I pulled out a medium-sized book that had been tucked into his waistband. “What do we have here?”
“Oh, for heaven’s sake. Jonathan, please.”
“Ooh, using Jonathan, are we? This must be exceptionally good. I looked down at the scuffed brown cover and read the title. Devil’s Cub. Where did Mrs. Whitmore get these things? “What’s this one about?”
“You’re going to laugh at me.”
“I would never laugh at you. I might laugh at the book, but never at you.”
“Very well. It’s about a handsome Marquis and the saucy young woman who takes the place of her younger sister whom he plans to carry off with him to France.”
I held back a smile. “Is he a rake?”
“Of the worst sort.”
“Seducer?”
“Of course.”
“In possession of a terrible temper?”
“Naturally.”
“Drinks too much?”
Henry cast me a cheeky smile. “Don’t they always?”
“I like the fellow already.”
“I had a feeling you would,” he said with a chuckle.
“And does the lady make off with his heart?”
“What do you think?”
“I think I might find the raciest part and read it out loud.” I started searching through the book, aware of Henry’s face having gone fiery red.

Series Temptation #1

 ~ ~ ~

This book is an exercise in marathon sex. Sex in incremental intensities and formations and explorations. It’s all about the sex. And damn, the guys are hot, sexy and good at sex. But there isn’t really anything new here. Don’t get me wrong, I mostly enjoyed it even if I didn’t really connect with the characters. I just chalked it up to being an erotic series and figured that’s what I would get. And I did. So, on that note, the book did achieve its goal of being erotica. It's not a romance. Yet. Maybe that will develop as the series progresses.

My problem is that the characters told me they had an emotional connection, but they never showed me. I have no idea why they think they're in love.

It's another book that falls into the insta-love-for-no-reason category.

THE CHARACTERS
Logan always went after what he wanted though. That was half of his problem. He had no boundaries. […]But wanting this guy? That was a stupid choice in every way.
Logan Mitchell - The definition of player. He’s in it for the chase and conquer. And then he’s out. He’s also kind of a bully.
He made a living off of it. He was always the cat that never caught the mouse, but he sure played with it for a while to make good money. But in the scenario, with this guy, Tate found himself feeling a lot like the mouse – and that pissed him off.
Tate Morrison - Once he decides to turn the tables on Logan, whew, it gets hot.

THE STORY

Logan is a sexy sex machine and is out to have it all. He does women, he does men and he does women and men. He likes the game, but when he sets his sights on

The Blurb:

Try – verb: to make an attempt or effort to do something or in this case…someone.

Sex. Logan Mitchell loves it, and ever since he realized his raw sexual appeal at a young age, he has had no problem using it to his advantage. Men and women alike fall into his bed—after all, Logan is not one to discriminate. He lives by one motto—if something interests you, why not just take a chance and try?

And he wants to try Tate Morrison.

Just coming out of a four-year marriage with an ex-wife from hell, a relationship is the last thing on Tate’s mind. He’s starting fresh and trying to get back on his feet with a new job at an upscale bar in downtown Chicago.

The only problem is, Tate has caught the unwavering and unwelcome attention of Mr. Logan Mitchell – a regular at the bar and a man who always gets what he wants.

Night after night Tate fends off the persistent advances of the undeniably charismatic man, but after an explosive moment in the bar, all bets are off as he finds his body stirring with a different desire than his mind.

As arrogance, stubbornness and sexual tension sizzles between the two, it threatens to change the very course of their lives.

Logan doesn’t do relationships. Tate doesn’t do men. But what would happen if they both just gave in and…tried?

Tate, the sexy bartender, there’s no stopping him. If Tate had just said “yes” from the get go the story would’ve been over. But no, Tate is straight and doesn’t that make the game more fun for Logan? Tate is a natural tease and that just leads to chapters of flirtatious flirting and flirtiness. I think Tate just can’t help himself.

THE WRITING

Details:

Sexy, dirty, vivid details. Yup, it’s all here. You get to ALL the bases and then some. It's almost written in stages of how to initiate the new guy.

Plot:

Not so much. It’s just two guys attracted to each other and then doin’ it. I don’t know why they think they have an emotional connection. There was so much sex time on the page that there wasn’t any time to develop a relationship. Wait, what? 350 some pages and there wasn’t time for relationship building? Hm. Well, when you figure it out, let me know. There were a few attempts to make a bond between these two guys, but it just didn’t go anywhere. I realize this is a series, and I suppose there’s more to come on that front, but I don’t know if what I’ve read so far is enough to keep me around for book 2.

Listen, if you want a hot, sexy romp with every erotic detail s.p.e.l.l.e.d. out for you then this is your book. If you’re looking for a male male romance, keep looking.

Two years after watching Anderson walk out of the prison gates, Lem has a visitor who informs him that Anderson desperately needs his help. He scoffs at the idea until he is given an offer that he cannot refuse. He doesn’t know if he is finally ready to make peace with himself outside prison, or if he is ready to face the pain he has caused, but he also understands that he will never get another chance like this.

Anderson has tried to push Lem to the back of his heart, but he cannot find anyone who can measure up to the man that Lem was. Letters he meant to send sit on the table, and the dreams he had about rebuilding his life go by the wayside as he pines for a man he cannot have. He doesn’t believe he will ever be happy again and finds it increasingly difficult to keep up the cheerful facade his family expects.

But unknown to Anderson, the women in his life have colluded to bring him and Lem back together again. Will he and Lem rekindle their love, or will they burn everyone around them by falling back to their past mistakes?

Nice
Sweet
Tension

First off, you just have to know that this book is written with some creative license regarding the situation and the period, 1934 England. Ms. Cochet has no problem putting you in the time frame, at all, but there may be some intentional bending of the rules to make a more connectable read.

I dearly enjoyed Johnnie and Henry’s story, but I have to say that Chance and "The Brat’s" steal the show here for me. In fact I was thrilled to find so much Chance and Jacky (see book #1) in this story, and I hope that the series continues to hold true to that. All of the characters are endearing, vibrant and memorable.

THE CHARACTERS

Jonathan (Johnnie) Wolfe - Impetuous is a good word for Johnnie. He acts before he thinks which causes many, many afflictions. Luckily Henry is a doctor.

"Well, aren't you glad our first kiss wasn't a drunken one?""You have a point," he conceded."And in comparison, you have to admit this one was nicer.""Stop saying nice."What's wrong with nice?""I don't want you to kiss me nicely, Jonathan. I want you to bloody ravish me!"

Dr. Henry Young - Refined, handsome, charitable and loving. He knows heartbreak and is sure Johnnie will lead him down that path again.

Side Characters

Chance – Better (and worse) than ever. “I have a word for you. Corset.”
Jacky – Beautiful, perfect man. No matter what.
Glen – Errrrgh!
The Brats – Will steal your heart. You never know when a book is gonna "hit" you, but there's this sweet, little scene at the end of the book that really got to me.

THE STORY

Who was I kidding? I knew why I came back, why I always came back, risking life and limb. I'd get to be near him, but only after shaking off a certain madman.

Eight years after leaving the deserts of Algeria, Jonathan Wolfe is still a cheeky bloke with a lot to learn about love. He knows he loves Henry, and he knows Henry loves him, but with a past like his he’d never want to soil the spotless doctor.

The Blurb:

Sequel to The Auspicious Troubles of Chance The Auspicious Troubles of Love: Book Two

Eight years after leaving the deserts of Africa and the French Foreign Legion behind, Jonathan Wolfe has settled into life at Hawthorne Manor in the English countryside.

Instead of soothing him, their closeness brings Johnnie’s insecurities from an unsettling past to the surface, and leads to an explosive situation that threatens to tear them apart. Then Henry’s past catches up to them….

Living in a household full of brats ranging from 6 years of age to 19 is a challenge. It’s a wonderful element of this series that there is a place like this to care and nurture these forgotten kids. Watching the interaction between this “family” will warm your heart.

*there is an element of non-con

THE WRITING

Well, the writing is just charming. Almost everything about this book it charming. It’s sweet, tender, funny and endearing. There are a few heartbreaking scenes, but mostly this is a feel good book even if you will find yourself so frustrated with Johnnie that you want to shake him.

For me this book really slowed down in the middle and there just wasn’t much forward movement for a good bit, but once it picked up again it was a great dash to the end. Also, there's a bit of, too-good-to-be-true going on, but in a very feel-good way.

This is turning out to be a go to series for a sweet, heartwarming read. I really have no idea who will be the focus of the next book, but it doesn't matter at all. With characters like these, I’ll read any of ‘em.

4 Historically Charming Stars!

Thank you Charlie Cochet for writing a historical romance that was delightfully enjoyable to read. I often find historical romance too heavy. Not here. Character driven and quite entertaining. From sexy rendezvous to tender confessions, I couldn’t put this down.

Romantic
Fun
Sweet
Sexy

THE CHARACTERS

Chance (Chauncey) Irving - Fresh, flippant, cheeky and captivating. He’s troubled and troublesome. His internal and external banter had me zinging. Even his derogatory remarks are fun to read.

Jacky Valentine - A hero’s hero. Gorgeous, firm and passionate, he find’s Chance to be the ultimate challenge and boy does Chance challenge Jacky.

Side Characters
The Brats:
Johnnie Wolfe – He’ll break your heart. Let’s find him an HEA okay Charlie?
Bobby Haven – Quiet, sweet and adorable.
Alexander Reed – Intelligent and stupid. Can’t he see he’s in love?

THE STORY

I couldn’t believe what I had done. Not having sex with him. I could easily believe that. I couldn’t believe I had allowed him to put me in such a susceptible state, that I had actually agreed to something as ridiculous as putting my trust into some mug I had just met, and an officer, no less.

From the footlights of Broadway to the sandy desert of Algiers this “lightly” historical romance travels through Chance Irving’s life. He finds himself angry, alone and boxed in as a soldier in the French Foreign Legion. Fortunately, he meets Jacky Valentine, in said box, who renames him, reawakens him and gives him much more from life then he ever thought he could have. They are lovely together and will have your heart soaring.

THE WRITING

First person, past tense is not my favorite perspective, but I just loved it here. Chance's narrative flowed smoothly. Charlie Cochet has a wonderful cast of characters and she shows you their qualities, through Chance’s eyes, with upbeat humor even in the midst of some

The Blurb:

The Auspicious Troubles of Love: Book One

Chance Irving is a young man with a gift for getting into trouble—not surprising, as trouble is all he’s ever known. After losing everything he held dear one fateful night, he decides to leave New York and his past behind, and joins the French Foreign Legion. But even in Algiers, Chance can’t seem to shake his old ways, and he ends up being transferred to a unit made up of misfits and rabble-rousers like him—a unit he finds just in time to be captured and thrown into a cell with his new commandant, Jacky Valentine.

A highly respected commandant with a soft spot for hard luck cases, Jacky is the kind of guy who would go to war for you, and the three equally troubled youths from his unit he’s more or less adopted feel the same way about him. Suddenly Chance starts to think that his life doesn’t have to be as desolate and barren as the wastelands around him.

But even after their escape, with the promise of a future with Jacky to buoy his spirits, or maybe because of it, Chance can’t stop making mistakes. He disobeys orders, lashes out at the boys in Jacky’s care, and blazes a trail of self-destruction across the desert—until someone makes him realize he’s hurting more than just himself.

fairly difficult issues. Never for a moment did I feel pulled down while reading this story, although there are some instances of sadness.

If you’re a die hard history buff, this may not be your cup of tea. The author bends the rules intentionally to make a very readable historical. I really loved this and expect to enjoy then next book in the series.

From the publisher:
Timeless Dreams title: While reaction to same-sex relationships throughout time and across cultures has not always been positive, these stories celebrate M/M love in a manner that may address, minimize, or ignore historical stigma.
